I have heard there are some newer surgical procedures which are safer than trabeculectomy. What are these?

Since the last decade or so, there are a few newer procedures which are “non-penetrating”, i.e. the anterior chamber of the eye is not entered. This is supposed to avoid the dangers of causing too low a pressure after surgery. However, these procedures have a marginally less percentage of success in the long term and are technically a little more difficult to perform.
