The Marrickville Social Support Service is looking for a volunteer with typing skills to assist a visually impaired woman to write her life story. The client also has a mild intellectual disability. The client is highly functioning and articulate. She would really like to record her life story but cannot do this without the aid of a typist. There is a computer available for the volunteer to use. The volunteer could go weekly or fortnightly for a couple of hours – on a Wednesday (morning or early afternoon). The length of time can be flexible. The client lives in Marrickville. The Marrickville Social Support Service is an initiative through Marrickville Council. The Social Support Program Officer is based in Newtown at Tom Foster Community Care. The volunteer must first meet with the Program Officer – this meeting takes around 1 – 1 1/2 hours.
