ECI has served Sonoma County for 63 years, and is a 5 MD/1 OD general ophthalmology, subspecialty, surgical, refractive, and optometric practice with a solid commitment to service locally and abroad. The ECI optical dispensary has been open since 1995 as a convenience for our patients. We’re looking to hire someone accurate, thorough, and comfortable with multi-tasking, and who shares the commitment of the entire office to serving our patients. Check us out here: http://www.ncmahealth.com/ncma-services/ophthalmology/ GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Greets, instructs, directs, and schedules patients and visitors. Serves as a liaison between patients, opticians, and medical support staff. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned.) 1. Greets patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous and helpful manner. 2. Opens and closes the dispensary. 3. Checks in patients, verifies and updates necessary information in the optical chart. Assists patients with ambulatory difficulties. Pulls insurance authorizations. 4. Checks patients out and collects balances due. 5. Checks account balances for patients. 6. Maintains patient and frame rep appointment book, and calendar schedule for optical staff. 7. Answers telephone, screens calls, takes messages and provides information. 8. Calls patients to inform them when glasses are ready 9. Files optical charts 10. Sells non-prescription sunglasses and other over-the-counter items. 11. Orders office supplies. 12. Orders cash sale items (readers, Croakies, etc.) 13. Types correspondence as directed. 14. Compiles/prepares end of month and end of year reports for the doctors. 15. Screens visitors and responds to routine requests for information. 16. Maintains work area and optical dispensary in a neat and orderly manner. 17. Attends meeting as required. 18. Posts and balances daily sales and receipts and maintains cash drawer. 19. Performs related work as required. PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of business office procedures. Knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation to type patient information and prepare correspondence. Skill in operating a computer, copy machine. Skill in greeting patients and answering the telephone in a pleasant and helpful manner. Ability to speak clearly and concisely. Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to sort and file materials correctly by alphabetic or numeric systems. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, doctors, and the public. Education: High school diploma or GED, some college preferred. Experience: 1. One year work experience, preferably in an office setting. Experience in an optical, optometric, or ophthalmology setting helpful. 2. Word processing, spreadsheet, and general computer experience.
