Health Briefs: free eye screenings, new youth space

Information on bariatric weight-loss, cancer support fund raising
Henrietta Johnson Medical Center and the Delaware Academy Of Ophthalmology will be hosting free eye screenings on March 28 from 8 a.m. to noon at 601 New Castle Avenue, Wilmington.

 

The Cancer Support Community Delaware is hosting a happy hour, 50 Shades of Red Balloons, March 5 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Cancer Support Community New Castle, 4810 Lancaster Pike, Wilmington.

 

Food will be provided by local restaurants along with wine, beer and music. There will be an auction as well as a special drink available for purchase, called a “Sip of Hope.” Off-site parking will be at the Agilent Technologies Inc. campus, Centerville Road, with valet transportation provided to and from the event.

 

Bariatric (weight loss) surgery can be the key to helping you get rid of many obesity-related health problems, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, depression and joint pain. The first step in the process is attending an informational seminar.

 

The Bayhealth Bariatric Program will offer a free seminar with surgeon Rahul Singh, Feb. 18 from 6-7 p.m. at Bayhealth Milford Memorial’s Conference Room A & B, 21 West Clarke Ave. Parking available in the lot adjacent to Kings Highway.
