Washington, D.C.-based MyEyeDr. acquires Raleigh’s Eye Care Associates and its 27 Carolina offices – Triangle Business Journal

Eye Care Associates has 300 employees spread across 27 locations, primarily in the Triangle but with outlying offices as far as Wilmington and Greensboro. MyEyeDr., which is owned by Capital Vision Services, began aggressively acquiring eye care clinics this year and will have grown from 460 employees in 67 locations one year ago to more than 1,200 employees in 140 locations by the end of this year, including nearly 70 in North Carolina.

Bolick will stay on as an investor and advisor, he says. Downes says that because there was little geographical overlap in the companies, she does not anticipate making layoffs, though some employees might be shifted. She adds that while MyEyeDr. has grown though acquisitions this year, it has not made layoffs as part of those acquisitions.

MyEyeDr. executives first approached Bolick and his team in earnest about 18 months ago, he remembers, though adds that the two companies had already been in contact for as long as 25 years. “It’s almost hard to believe that it has been that long,” Bolick says.
