With the opening of the new Ophthalmology Department at the Souillac hospital, the workload at the Subramania Bharathi Eye Hospital in Moka will decrease by 30 to 35 %.
The statement was made yesterday by the Minister of Health and Quality of Life, Mr Anil Gayan, at the launching of new Ophthalmology services at the Souillac Hospital.
The Minister recalled that since the Subramania Bharati Eye Hospital was converted into a full-fledged eye hospital in 1972, all eye surgeries have been carried out in that same set-up, despite an increase in demand for eye medical services.
