Thirty minutes of physical exercise a day can benefit your heart, waistline
and energy levels – and do your eyes the world of good. Many eye diseases
are linked to health problems such as high blood pressure, diabetes and high
cholesterol, but exercise can help to limit these problems. One medical
study suggests that people who exercise moderately (a brisk walk, climbing
the stairs, dancing) are 25 per cent less likely to develop glaucoma than
people who don’t. In another study, scientists found that people who
exercise three times a week are less likely to develop age-related macular
degeneration than those who don’t.
Good nutrition is crucial for eye health. Studies and clinical trials link the
antioxidant vitamins found in certain foods with good eye health, helping to
