Investors keenly eye Health City – Cayman 27

Health City Cayman Islands (HCCI) seems to be gaining interest in the investment world. The East End facility has been listed by financial newsletter Market Dynamics Caribbean as one of the top five Caribbean investment opportunities to watch in 2015.

Melissa Marchand, the managing director of Global News Matters, which owns the newsletter, said countries should look at the solid medical depth and experience at HCCI to identify ways of benefiting other Caribbean institutions.

“The sector has to be carefully planned with Caribbean countries coordinating to avoid costly duplication and inefficiencies,” Ms. Marchand said.

“There are many gaps in the region, and closing them can become opportunities for those investors that really understand the regional context of each local economy.”

The facility, which is the brainchild of renowned Indian cardiac surgeon Dr. Devi Shetty, opened its door last year. It was conceptualised to introduce medical tourism into the Cayman Islands economy.

A message from the Commissioner of Police, who welcomed the prison sentences handed down to the Diamonds International robbery gang. David Baines says while he has no problem tackling armed thieves himself again, the real heroes are the members of the public who helped.
