Buono, MD, F.A.C.S. has been recognized as a ‘Top Doctor’ by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd. 15th edition of Top Doctors: New York Metro Area, according to eye surgeon Jeffrey Martin, medical director of North Shore Eye Care and a 6th year recipient of the Castle Connolly ‘Top Doctor’ for the New York Metro Area.

“Over the past several years, several of our doctors at North Shore Eye Care have been fortunate to be voted as a ‘Top Doctor’ by Castle Connolly,” said Dr. Martin. “Very few practices in the state have earned more recognition than our doctors and we are extremely proud to now include Dr. Buono to this impressive list.”

 

Dr. Buono is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and treats all medical and surgical conditions of the eye. He specializes in ophthalmic surgery, including cataract, glaucoma and ophthalmic plastic surgery, and has a special interest in complex cataract surgery including lens exchange and sutured intraocular lenses. Dr. Buono has extensive experience with premium intraocular lenses including Tecnis® multifocal lens, Restor® multifocal lens, Crystalens® lens and Toric lenses.

 

Dr. Buono is currently an Assistant Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at the New York Institute of Technology, College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he teaches medical students and residents. Dr. Buono serves as an attending physician at Southampton Hospital, Eastern Long Island Hospital and Peconic Bay Medical Center. He is currently the chairman of surgery at Eastern Long Island Hospital and serves on the Executive Medical Committee of the hospital.
